Petplan invited nominations of local cat & dog charities and shelters that are working hard to protect vulnerable animals which often goes unrecognised. The top five nominated Charity/Shelters would each receiving a donation of $500 and Franklin Farm Sanctuary was one of the top five nominated charities.
Day in and day out, there are countless local organisations working hard to save, rehabilitate and rehome vulnerable or abused animals. Petplan wanted to show our appreciation for the hard work these charities do in our local communities because our sole focus is on the health and wellbeing of pets.
Rescuing an animal is just the first step in saving a life. Once they have been checked and seen a vet, if necessary, the process of finding them a new home begins which is proven to be their biggest challenge currently.
There are several ways that you can get involved with Franklin Farm Sanctuary. You can help with one of their rescues, or put on your gummies, roll up your sleeves and help dig some holes (there is always a fence to be made somewhere on the farm).
If you are unable to physically help then perhaps you could donate, sponsor, or even adopt or foster one of their animals. We can all do our bit in helping to save a life.
Our other competition winners are:
Donna Doolittle Animal Rescue – Kaitaia
Rescue Revive Rehome – Bay of Plenty
Feral Nation – Wellington
9 Lives Orphanage – Manurewa
