Jobs within the Horse Industry

Whether it is a career associated with riding, horse care and breeding and health care, there are many different occupations you can consider if you love horses. Here are some jobs that are related to the horse industry.

Trainer: Work with horses to prepare them for things such as riders, races or horse shows.

Riding Instructor: Teaches students how to ride horses correctly and holds training sessions.

Jockey: Ride racehorses in competitions.

Farrier: Specialises in all things hoof care and horse shoe maintenance.

Stable Manager:  Are responsible for feeding, stable hygiene, horse health, event planning for horses. They supervise employees and maintain the building and grounds.

Breeder: Specialises in a breeding particular type of horse. They also evaluate animals and overseas the general care of horses.

Groom: Usually cleans stables, grooms horses and feeds them. They are responsible for overseeing day to day tasks.

Veterinarian: Looks after a horse’s health and wellbeing.

Saddler: They make and repair many different types of saddles.

Photographer: Specialising in equine photography.

Writer: Writing for newspapers, magazines, and websites about the horse industry.
