At just 12 months old, she was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, which meant that she had to have her leg amputated. The specialists had never seen a Golden Retriever of her age with this type of Cancer. They knew that the amputation would instantly relieve the pain but it was thought that Mya would still only have 6 months at the most. However, the amputation was a success and turned out to be the best thing for Mya. She proved everyone wrong and was back to her naughty self in no time. Two years later, Mya is defying the odds and living her life to the fullest.
